EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University and Edinboro University will play in front of a national television audience on ESPN GamePlan and ESPN360.com when they line up for their NCAA Division II Playoff game on Saturday at noon at Eiler-Martin Stadium, it was announced Wednesday.

The telecast, produced by the SportsFever Television Network, gives ESU, Edinboro and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference unprecedented exposure as they compete in the first round of the NCAA Division II Championships. The game will also air live and on a tape-delay basis on STN affiliates across the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

ESPN360.com is an online service provided free of charge to Comcast cable internet subscribers and for a nominal fee through other internet providers. For more information, log on to http://espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/index. ESPN GamePlan will air the game on DirecTV channel 791 and is available through a subscription service that is supported by most cable providers; for more information, please inquire with the carrier in your area.

“ESPN’s decision to carry the ESU-Edinboro game shows that the national media recognizes the high level of competition in Division II football and the PSAC,” said Gorden Blain, owner and operator of the SportsFever Television Network. “The PSAC produces great games week in and week out, outstanding NFL-caliber players and some of the top names in college football, like ESU head coach Denny Douds and Edinboro head coach Scott Browning.”

“The telecast would not be possible without the commitment that East Stroudsburg and Edinboro have made to our PSAC “Game of the Week” package over the last three years. The exposure that the schools will receive benefits not only their athletic programs but also their universities. We’re excited to showcase this brand of football to a national audience,” Blain said.

The game will air live across the state on Blue Ridge cable systems channels 11 and 13, WFXP (Fox affiliate) in Erie, PCNC in Pittsburgh and WIUP (Comcast channel 20) in Indiana, Armstrong and Cambria counties.

Tape delay broadcasts include WTVE in Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley and South Jersey at 2 p.m. and WQMY in Wilkes-Barre-Scranton-Williamsport at 4 p.m. FSN Pittsburgh will air the game on Tuesday, November 17 at 7 p.m.

Scott Bacon (play-by-play), Jon Schaeffer (color commentary) and Kristi Fulkerson (sideline reporter) will comprise the broadcast team that will call the action for the second meeting in the NCAA Playoffs between the two schools.

Edinboro is making its eighth appearance in the national playoffs, while ESU has been in the postseason three other times. The 2004 second round game, a 36-32 win by the Warriors, went down to the final minute, and each of the eight meetings since 2000 have been decided by 13 points or less.
