The exciting, high-powered NCAA Division II college football played in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference will be showcased this fall for the third consecutive season on a network of Pennsylvania commercial television stations available to more than six million cable, satellite and over-the-air households.

Pennsylvania-based SPORTSfever Television Network announced today that it will televise in October and November eight football games involving PSAC teams. During the 2007 and 2008 seasons, STN televised 26 NCAA Division II games involving PSAC teams.

In cooperation with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and its member universities and commercial television stations and cable systems affiliated with STN, live telecasts of PSAC football games begin Saturday, October 3 when Lock Haven visits Edinboro.

STN will also televise the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game on November 7 between the PSAC West and East champions. The East Division champion hosts the championship game this season. STN also will televise a NCAA Division II playoff game involving a PSAC team later in November.

"We are pleased that the conference members continue to gain statewide exposure through SPORTSfever’s programming,” said PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray. "Very few NCAA Division II institutions have this opportunity available to them.”

Nationally-ranked Bloomsburg, Edinboro, East Stroudsburg and Clarion each appear twice on the region-wide telecasts. Lock Haven, Mercyhurst, Millersville and Shippensburg each appear once.

“Bloomsburg University is pleased to once again be part of the SPORTSfever TV package,” said Bloomsburg coach Danny Hale. “It is great that fans around the state can see some of the best Division II football in the country, thanks to SPORTSfever.”

Said East Stroudsburg coach Denny Douds: “ The PSAC Game of the Week is a great service to the people, football fans and alumni of the state institutions around the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It’s an outstanding showcase for the type of football played in Pennsylvania, one of the great football states in the country. We’re very excited to be involved with SPORTSfever for the third straight year and the exposure it gives to East Stroudsburg University, its students and our football program on Saturday afternoons.”

In addition to the telecasts airing on STN-affiliated full-service television stations WTVE (Philadelphia-Lehigh Valley-South Jersey), WGCB (Harrisburg-Lancaster-York), WQMY (Wilkes-Barre-Scranton-Williamsport) and WQED (Pittsburgh-Western Pennsylvania), PSAC football will be featured for the second consecutive year on FSN Pittsburgh. STN’s Monday Night PSAC Game of the Week on FSN features a replay of the game that aired live on Saturday.

Telecasts also replay on Time Warner, Armstrong, Atlantic Broadband, Blue Ridge, Service Electric and Comcast (WIUP) cable systems throughout Pennsylvania.

“The fan and alumni interest in college football, no matter the division, continues to mushroom,” said Gorden Blain, SPORTSfever’s owner and chief officer. “That is why our telecasts of PSAC football have generated significant TV ratings throughout Pennsylvania. Tens of thousands of television sets—no matter if those TV sets are served by cable or satellite-- throughout Pennsylvania are tuned in on Saturday afternoons and thousands more have tuned in to the telecasts on FSN on Monday nights. The Monday night replays have proven also to be a ratings winner.”

The Association of Pennsylvania State College & University Faculties is once again a major sponsor of the telecasts on STN for the third straight year.

“APSCUF is proud to once again sponsor PSAC football on SPORTSfever,” said APSCUF President Steve Hicks. “The excitement of the games and the intensity of the rivalries between our universities are part of the educational experience of which APSCUF is pleased to be a part.”

The participating universities see the telecasts as opportunities to promote more than their football teams.

“We are excited to be a part of the SPORTSfever schedule again this year,” said Edinboro Sports Information Director Bob Shreve. “It provides our football program, and more importantly, Edinboro University, with a great deal of exposure throughout the state and also into areas of Ohio. The production is first class.”

Said Clarion Athletic Director Dave Kartis: “We’re really happy to be involved with SPORTSfever and televising our games across Pennsylvania. It’s a great opportunity for Clarion to reach out to its family, friends and alumni, as well as the potential to reach future students. We have a strong football and athletic tradition, as well as a strong commitment to academics and our student-athletes, and that is the message we’re sending through our participation.”
