C.D. East reaches District 3 AAAA girls final for first time

HERSHEY – Central Dauphin East’s sister combo of McKenna and Kimberly Regets combined for 26 points to propel the Panthers to a 49-39 PIAA District 3 AAAA semifinal win over Cedar Crest at Giant Center Tuesday night.

East (21-6) will play in its first District 3 girls basketball championship game in school history against Wilson (25-3) on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. at Giant Center. Wilson defeated Central Dauphin on Monday night at Giant Center 41-40.

Cedar Crest (22-7) will face Central Dauphin (22-7) for third place on Thursday at a site and time to be determined.

The Falcons outscored the Panthers 15-9 in the second quarter to take a 24-19 lead at halftime but East turned up its defensive pressure in the third quarter and held Cedar Crest scoreless for 7:15. East went from five down to seven up with a 35-28 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Cedar Crest never threatened in the fourth quarter.

McKenna Regets had 15 points and Kimberly Regets had 11. Shannon Stokes led Cedar Crest with 15 points and Carrie Sheffey scored 10.
